ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Many people in downtown St. Louis are worried about their safety which is why there has been a huge demand for safety guides in the area.
Crimes against people are up 15 percent from last year, and in the same time period the number of requests for downtown safety guides has increased 400 percent.
Officials say in the last week there have been twice as many calls for guides to walk people to their car, work or home.
The rise is credited to two things, the growing concern about safety in the area and also to the time change.
The service is available from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. For more information, click here.
