RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A woman posing as a valet driver for disabled patients at a Richmond Height’s hospital has allegedly been driving off with patients’ cars. In one instance, there was an elderly woman inside.
At least two incidents took place at SSM St. Mary’s hospital. In September, the suspect got away with a Mazda 3 sedan and a Dodge 3 Charger, which had a 91-year-old woman inside. The suspect, Roberta Hamilton, dropped the elderly woman off at a local gas station in St. Louis. Police said scammed another patient weeks earlier at the same hospital.
SSM Health Center said they are only aware of these two cases. They added that the valet operates weekdays from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“If you are here on a weekend or outside of these hours, do not give your keys to anyone posing as valet,” the hospital said in a statement.
The valet workers wear SSM St. Mary’s shirts or jackets along with a valet badge.
Police said Hamilton was spotted at Mercy hospital in Creve Coeur on Oct 30th. She was posing as a valet driver and attempted to steal another vehicle.
She was arrested and charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and one count of felonious restraint.
