ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – An open house will be held Monday for the public to get a chance to view the proposed redesign of Kiener Plaza as part of the CityArchRiver 2015 project.
Funding for the project will come from a mix of public and private funding. The public funding for the project will come from the revenue of Proposition P, which was approved by city and county voters in 2013 to fund improvements to the Arch grounds.
“Through the proposed redesign, we want to make Kiener Plaza a great gathering place for play, celebration, and relaxation,” Maggie Hales, executive director of CityArchRiver 2015 Foundation, said in a press release. “We’re excited to get the design in front of the public and see what they think.”
A large event lawn in front of the Old Courthouse, shade gardens, a playground, interactive water features and a bicycle parking grove are all included in the proposed redesign. There is also space left for a future visitor center at the plaza.
The Great Rivers Greenway District, CityArchRiver 2015 and the City of St. Louis have teamed together for the redesign.
Monday’s open house will be held at Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
