RIVERVIEW, Mo. (KMOV.com) – What started as a man waiting for his nephew’s school bus to return ended with him being robbed at gunpoint by two men in Riverview on Sept. 19.
Police said the man was waiting for a school bus to arrive at the intersection of Lilac and Scenic when another man, later identified as 21-year-old Shawn Hill, asked him if he had change for a 10 dollar bill. Upon handing over two five dollar bills to Hill, Hill displayed a 9 millimeter gun and robbed the man.
While the victim and suspect are strangers, police said Hill was aware of the victim’s routine wait at the school bus stop.
“A lot of people are prey to these types of individuals. They watch and see what’s the daily pattern? What’s their routine? What do they do on a daily basis?” said Sgt. Jason Groves of the Riverview Police Department.
Hill was arrested one week after the incident, and was charged with first degree robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. Hill posted his bail and is out of the St. Louis County jail. His accomplice is still wanted.
