(KMOV.com) – The American Civil Liberties Union released a smart phone app it believes will curtail racial profiling.
The Mobile Justice App will allow drivers to record traffic stops as they happen. The organization said the tool should be used with caution.
“Before you reach for your phone, tell the officer ‘I’m reaching for my cell phone. I’d like to video tape this interaction,” said Jeffrey Mittman with the ACLU. “If the officer says ‘no’ then obviously, you tell your lawyer later.”
Video recorded on the app is immediately sent to the ACLU, which the organization believes may prevent someone’s cell phone from being confiscated by police.
