O’FALLON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – O’Fallon Police said they may have a lead on a group of men who have been targeting homes with open garage doors.
The thieves have broken into cars and even kicked the front door of a home to get in.The crime spree has been spanning for five weeks, and more than eight homes have been targeted. The thieves have been targeting homes in the affluent Whitetail Estates and Winghaven communities. Locked cars parked inside an open garage have been broken into and their valuables stolen, according to police. Everything from purses to guns have been reported stolen from cars and homes.
A surveillance photo of a man using a stolen credit card in north St. Louis City could be a break in the case and help to determine if the crew has been connected to other burglaries in the area.
Police said residents should be alert and watch out for a tan colored Hyundai Elantra which is believed to be involved in other area crimes.
