HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A woman fought back during an attempted strong armed robbery in the parking lot of a Hazelwood QuikTrip Tuesday night, police say.

The woman was going to her car in the parking lot of the gas station in the 5900 block of Howdershell at 8:40 p.m. when a man approached her from behind and pushed her into the vehicle as she opened the door. The suspect then hit the woman twice and demanded items from her.

The woman then pushed the suspect away.

The suspect entered a different vehicle and fled the scene. The woman told police there was an unknown man in the passenger seat of the suspect’s vehicle.

The victim described the suspect as a black man, 6 foot tall with a medium build. The suspect told police the man was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as an early 2000’s model, four-door grey Dodge.

The investigation is ongoing.
