New independent film may shed light on the 2005 death of a St. Louis area Army Private

(KMOV) – A new independent film, “The Silent Truth,” was screened before a standing room-only crowd at Webster University, Wednesday night.

Dr. John Johnson, of north St. Louis County, is hoping that this movie about his daughter, Army Private Lavena Johnson, will shed new light on his search for the truth about her death in the military. Dr. Johnson has spent more than $20,000 to find the truth behind his daughter’s 2005 death.

The military says Lavena committed suicide, but there is evidence that make the suicide unlikely.

Johnson says the evidence includes contradicting military documents and bullet wounds.

The Johnson family believes that what happened to Lavena not only happened to other women in the military, but it is still going on today.

Dr. Johnson hopes this movie can expose of a military cover-up he believes in.
