The game was billed as Clayton's running game vs. Vashon's explosive attack. Clayton got out to an early lead of 10 to 0, aided by three turnovers on Vashon's first three possessions. That is the way the score stood at halftime as the Greyhounds Defense eliminated most of the Wolverine's running attack. After both team's exchanged punts on the first two posessions of the second half, Clayton sustained a 90 yard drive that was capped by a 2 yard run for a touchdown by Kameron Stewart, who would rush 32 times for 208 yards in the game.
Down 17 to nothing, Vashon crawled back into the game by scoring on two consecutive possions with touchdown passes from quarterback Darren Fowlkes to Provine Robbins. With the score now 17 to 14, Vashon had the opportunity to go ahead when the connected on a 70 yard pass to Robbins, setting up a first and goal from the 3 yard line. The Clayton defense held and ther Wolverines turned the ball over on downs. Clayton then took control of the remainder of the game by successfully handing the ball off to Stewart and running out the clock.
