(KMOV) – Some bar owners could lose their liquor license if they don’t clean up their act, according to the mayor of Alton, Illinois.
Criminal activity at three bars this year including nudity, shootings and fights prompted the threat from the Mayor Tom Hoechst.
The latest incident involves a bar called the cellar – they are accused of selling alcohol to minors.
The mayor says in the future, each bar will have a file and owners who break the law the first time will get a warning. The second time, the bar will get its liquor license suspended for two days. But in the third offense, the mayor says he will push to revoke the bar’s license.
Mayor Hoesct says he will review the new policy to owners next week.
