SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois lawmakers are coming back to work, but it will be a brief visit.

Legislators will meet on Tuesday and then convene the next day for Governor Pat Quinn's State of the State address. Then they head back to their districts until after the primary election on Feb. 2.

There's plenty of work waiting for the Legislature.

The state budget is full of holes. Some officials are angry over the governor's early release of prisoners. Others want to discuss a tax increase.

But it's common for major decisions to wait until after elections in political years.
