Family charged with torturing, killing man in Mo. town

(KMOV)-- A father, mother and their children are now charged with torturing and killing a man in a Missouri town.

It happened in Ladonnia about 90 miles from St. Louis near Mexico, Missouri.

According to court records the victim was murdered in the basement of a home in the 300 block of Young. He was allegedly held captive at gunpoint before he was strangled and suffocated.

Chester Harvey Jr., his wife Angela, and a son Chad are charged with murder.

According to police they laid 20-year-old James McKneeley on a mattress, kicked him, threatened him with shotguns, bound him with duct tape and wire, then suffocated him with a trash bag.

Investigators say a 14 year old, and a 16 year old were also involved. They're facing murder charges in the juvenile system.

Police say Jackie Moss, Darrill Lynn, and Robert N. Allen are charged with kidnapping the victim.

The sheriff told News 4 there could be even more suspects.

The victim’s body was found in a refrigerated semi truck a few miles from the crime scene.

Police won't talk about a motive, but court records could offer a clue. Angela Harvey stated McKneeley needed to be taken care of so he couldn't come back and harm them. Angela Harvey will be in court Wednesday.

The rest of her family is being held without bond.
