Family searches for schizophrenic sister

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Relatives are searching for a schizophrenic woman who disappeared shortly after her release from a St. Louis-area mental health center.

Fifty-seven-year-old Sherry Brown has not been seen since leaving her brother's home in the St. Louis suburb of Wildwood on Nov. 18.

She had been released earlier that day from CenterPointe after a spate of unusually irrational behavior prompted a six-week stay at the mental health facility in St. Charles.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that police found her car the next day in a drainage ditch. Another brother, Jeff Brown, said his sister had turned west on a road when she should have gone east to get to her apartment in Maryland Heights, another St. Louis suburb.

Her purse was gone, but her debit card hasn't been used since her disappearance.
