Metro-East man accused of setting house fire leaving ex-girlfriend, sons homeless

ALTON - An Alton man faces an arson charge for allegedly setting a fire Thursday in his former girlfriend's apartment, forcing families with children and an infant to seek housing elsewhere.

The Madison County State's Attorney's Office in Edwardsville charged Claude T. Rogers, 26, of the 2800 block of Viewland Street with the Class X felony offense of aggravated arson.

He is in police custody, but authorities declined to say where they arrested Rogers. He was held in lieu of $200,000 bond.
