A triple shooting that leaves two dead and another injured puzzles police.
Just one hour into the new year, St. Louis police were called to the 49-hundred block of Theodore Avenue. That's off of Kingshighway. There, they discovered two people shot dead and another man suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and shoulder. Police tell me he's in stable condition at a hospital this morning. They'll be talking to him as part of their investigation.
A lieutenant on duty early this morning tells me that police really have no clue what happened yet or what the motive might be. The lieutenant says the people inside the home reported hearing gunshots, then came outside to find the three victims, two of whom were dead. According to police, the witnesses told them they knew the victims by face, but not by name.
Detectives and crime scene technicians worked for about five hours processing the scene. The lieutenant tells me they discovered bullet casings both inside and outside the home. They're now working to piece it all together.
The lieutenant I spoke to this morning tells me he does not believe police are familiar with the home and that they had not been called there before to investigate.
