Blues defenseman makes Czech Olympic team

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis Blues defenseman Roman Polak has been named to the Czech Republic's 2010 Olympic team.

The 23-year-old Polak has played in all 39 games this season for St. Louis, with two goals and five assists.

He's a native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, and played for his country in the 2009 World Championships, and the World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006.

Polak was plus-7 in seven games in the 2009 World Championships and in 2005 helped his country win a bronze medal.

The Winter Olympics are Feb. 12-28 in Vancouver, with hockey taking place from Feb. 16-28. The Czech Republic won the bronze medal at the 2006 games in Torino.
