Metro-East man rescues grandmother, aunt from flooded car

A Roodhouse man pulled his grandmother and aunt from their car, which was submerged in a flooded creek, with water up to the women's necks.

The incident occurred Saturday evening in the floodwaters of Apple Creek west of Belltown, off High Street, north of Carrollton and south of White Hall.

Jeramie Fisher, 32, of Roodhouse, said his stepmother called him about 6 p.m. Saturday and told him that her police scanner was reporting a car had gone into the water near Apple Creek. About the same time, Fisher's father, Terry Fisher, telephoned and said he had received a cell phone call from Jeramie's aunt, Irma Fisher, who said her car had been swept off the flooded road and was filling with water. Mary Fisher, who is Irma's mother and Jeramie's grandmother, also was in the car; the women had been on their way to a church supper in Haypress.
