KMOV - Illinois Congressman John Shimkus says he thinks airport security should be allowed to profile passengers based on their race and country of origin.
"I'm for looking at folks for where they come from, their ethnicity, their behavior patterns. But that's going to be hard to do," says Shimkus.
Shimkus says civil libertarians are strongly against profiling and would fight it.
A spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration says that airport security does not consider race, religion or country of origin as part of its screening process for passengers.
