(KMOV.com) – Many University City residents have launched a recall campaign against Councilman Steven Kraft.
Kraft, who was re-elected in April, was accused of mouthing profanities to a resident in the middle of a city council meeting. Another woman claims he threw a water bottle at her during a different meeting.
“We’re concerned about our level of government. My grandfather, who was mayor, would be turning over in his grave if he knew what was going on. There is no smear campaign,” said resident Gene Roth.
Kraft declined to go on camera, but issued a statement saying, “This is a continuation of the spring election campaign that attempted to defame me and physically assault my family.”
