FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL. (KMOV.com) – A woman in Fairview Heights has been charged after she allegedly shot her boyfriend’s dog during an argument.
Police say Angela K. Willig, 32, was arguing with her boyfriend when she grabbed a .22 caliber rifle and allegedly shot the dog three times in the face and paw. At the time of the shooting, the dog was locked inside a kennel. Authorities say the dog did not pose a threat to anyone.
The pit bull was taken for emergency surgery and is expected to recover from his injuries. No one else was injured during the domestic dispute.
Willig has been charged with one count of felony criminal information for the offense of aggravated cruelty to animals, a class four felony. She is currently being held in the St. Clair County Jail on $25,000 bond.
