(KMOV.com) – Ferguson announced it is considering changes it believes will satisfy the concerns of some residents.
The city council said it will establish a police review board to oversee the police department. It said the board will include people who are not part of the police department or city government.
The council also said an ordinance will be introduced that will ensure revenues from court fines remain at or below 15 percent of the city’s overall revenue. The council believes such an ordinance would encourage judges to hand out other punishments for those who break the law.
The city also said the council will also introduce an ordinance that will get rid of the fine for those who fail to appear in municipal court, and also said it will propose an ordinance to abolish certain fees that impact low income residents.
