ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Authorities arrested a man accused of firing at a St. Louis County police officer and grazing his gun belt.
Police said a Velda City officer returned gunfire early Sunday at the suspect, who has been identified as 27-year-old Eric Fowler.
Fowler was charged Sunday with assault first-degree on a police officer and armed criminal action. Fowler was arrested Tuesday afternoon without incident in South St. Louis City.
Police said officers had been called to a disturbance at a house. Gunfire erupted when officers approached a vehicle to speak to the driver.
The St. Louis County officer was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
