ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – One person was found dead with a gunshot wound to his stomach after a car fire in west St. Louis Sunday night.  

According to authorities, the car caught fire just before 10:00 p.m. near the intersection of Hodiamont and Skinker. When authorities arrived on the scene, they removed the victim, later identified as 34-year-old Michael Shores, from the driver’s side and rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say three bullet holes were found on the side of the car and at least a pound of marijuana was found in the vehicle’s trunk.

Shores was from the 700 block of Woodside Trails Drive in Ballwin.

No further information has been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
