(HockeySTL)-- With the start of the 2014-15 NHL season still a month away, Blues fans are anxious to see their team’s new roster in action. But while they wait for the puck to drop on the new season, they will have a chance to see the players of tomorrow compete in a short, miniature tournament that will unofficially conclude the offseason.
The Blues will be one of eight teams competing in the 2014 Traverse City NHL Prospects Tournament, which is held annually in Traverse City, Mich. The tournament kicks off on Sept. 12. and the Blues will play three games between Sept. 12 and Sept. 15. The team’s prospects will be taking on future NHL players from the Red Wings, Wild and Blue Jackets’ organizations.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Blues released their roster for the tournament. The roster, which consists of 25 players (16 forwards, seven defensemen, two goalies), features some of the Blues’ top prospects, including: 2014 first-round draft pick Robby Fabbri, 2014 second-round pick Ivan Barbashev, defenseman Joel Edmundson and top goaltending prospect Jordan Binnington.
Five of the Blues’ ten 2014 draft picks will be participants in the tournament. Fabbri, Barbashev, Samuel Blais, Jaedon Descheneau, and CJ Yakimowicz will represent the Blues’ 2014 draft class.
Last year, the Blues finished fifth in the tournament, posting a 2-2 record. Nine players will be returning from last year’s roster.
