Community forum held to discuss future of Ferguson

FERGUSON, Mo. ( – Community leaders in Ferguson gathered Thursday evening to discuss changes needed to move Ferguson forward.

The forum was held by St. Louis Public Radio and included Ferguson Mayor James Knowles, Director of Public Safety David Isom, and Director of Elections Rita Days.

Hundreds of community members were in attendance and demanded better relations between citizens and police.

“It shouldn’t be normal for an officer to be afraid of someone when they’re policing. If they know the area, then they wouldn’t be scared. That comes into play with the mayor, the chief, and everyone else involved in the police department,” said one community member.

The community discussion will be aired on St. Louis Public Radio on Friday at 12:00 p.m.

Another town hall meeting is scheduled for Friday night involving the Community Relations Service of the United States Department of Justice.
