ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police said a brother and sister are accused of robbing a pizza delivery man outside of a Papa John’s.
Papa John’s confirms that the robbery took place early Sunday morning in the parking lot of their Olive Boulevard location in University City. The company said the incident occurred after the employee had clocked out and was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot. University City police said the suspect approached the car and began punching the driver through the car window.
Police said the incident involved a brother and sister—21-year-old Joshua Rhodes and 18-year-old Marsharicka Rhodes.
Police said Joshua Rhodes dragged the driver out of the car and beat him as his sister held the victim down. The brother allegedly took off in the car while his sister fled on foot.
“It’s really sad. Especially because my daughter is right around the corner going to school,” said a local resident.
Police said the victim gave a clear description of the suspects. Joshua Rhodes has several facial tattoos. He was spotted nearby on the 8000 block of Hafner Court with the victim’s car parked on the street. He then provided the name of his sister as an accomplice, and the two were arrested.
Papa John’s released the following statement Tuesday:
"Our employee had just clocked out Saturday night when the incident occurred as he was leaving. We are grateful for the response time displayed of the local law enforcement and thankful that our employee is safe and his car was found and returned. Papa John's will continue to work closely with the ongoing investigation."
The brother and sister have been transferred to St. Louis County and are awaiting felony charges.
