Silent night in Ferguson ahead of Michael Brown funeral

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Authorities said no arrests were made and no smoke bombs, tear gas or mace was used the night before the funeral for Michael Brown.

Police said Sunday night was quiet compared to a week ago when at least 52 people were arrested and two were shot within a 24 hour time period in Ferguson.

According to police, there were some calls due to the heat throughout the night, but no calls for violence.

Earlier on Sunday, Michael Brown’s father spoke at Peace Fest 2014 in Forest Park and pleaded for a “day of silence” as he lays his son to rest Monday.

Missouri Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson said he will not be talking to the media on Monday out of respect for Brown’s family.
