SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- It's a win in the fight against online crime. But it's expected that to be a short-lived one.
The federal government has cut the Internet links of a company called Pricewert LLC. The company is accused of helping criminals come up with all kinds of illegal content online.
The Federal Trade Commission says Pricewert was targeted at criminals who want to run malicious Web sites online, but need servers and bandwidth to do so.
The company's technicians also helped criminals maintain the armies of computers used for botnets.
But the cutting of service likely won't put a big dent in online shenanigans.
Criminals are expected to find another Internet service provider -- and use that one, instead.
