Police trying to figure out if 2 Metro-East fires were related

(KMOV) -- Fire investigators are looking into a pair of fires in the Metro-East.

Raw video: East St. Louis fire >

Both fires happened early Thursday morning and started within a few minutes of each other.

The first one happened in Washington Park, Ill. in the 2300 block of North 61st Street. That house was vacant.

A few minutes later, a fire broke out at the corner of College and Veronica Street in East St. Louis. Police say this house was also vacant.

Right now it's too early to determine whether these two fires were related in anyway or simply a coincidence.

There are no reports of any injuries.
