George Marshall may be 87, but he has a whopping big fish story to tell the rest of his life.
Marshall, of Alton, was fishing along the Mississippi River by the Clark Bridge and landed the biggest catfish of his life, weighing in the neighborhood of 50 pounds.
"I caught it right next to the power plant," he said. "It was about 1 o'clock in the afternoon. I was fishing by myself, but there was another one fishing beside me. He helped me get him out of the water. When he hit it, he bent my pole way down. I pulled it up and I couldn't move it; I was afraid it would break my line. The man next to me started helping me pull it in. I knew I had a big fish."
