Metro-East churches gather to discuss security measures

(KMOV) -- A little more than two months after Pastor Fred Winters was gunned down during a Sunday service, churches in the Metro-East gathered to discuss new security plans.

Church members and law enforcement packed Grace Church on Monday morning to learn ways to keep churches safe while still keeping them open to the public.

The Southern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission and Police Chief's Association are helping churches implement better security.

Despite Pastor Winter's death on March 8th, churches leaders say they will not close their doors to those in need.
