URBANA, Ill. (KMOV) -- For the eighth consecutive season, the University of Illinois' men's tennis team advanced to the Sweet 16.
No. 13 Illinois defeated No. 21 Louisville 4-1 Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Urbana, Illinois.
The Cardinals (21-8) won the first singles match to take a 1-0 lead, but Illinois rebounded by sweeping the next four matches.
Ruan Roelofse guaranteed Illinois the victory with a win at No. 6 singles.
Illinois' (23-8) Marek Czerwinski defeated Alejandro Calligari 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Czerwinski teamed with Marc Spicijaric at No. 2 doubles to defeat Louisville's duo 8-3.
At No. 2 singles, Illinois' Roy Kalmanovich defeated Viktor Maksimcuk 6-3, 6-3.
Illinois heads to College Station, Texas, on Friday, May 15. Its opponent is still undecided.
