The Illinois men's golf team won the 2009 Big Ten Championship on
Sunday, May 3. The Illini finished at +13, 13 strokes ahead of
second place Minnesota.
Division of Intercollegiate Athletics The Illinois men's golf team
secured its first Big Ten title since 1988 on Sunday as it won the
Big Ten Championships.
The Illini climbed the scoreboard in each round and secured a
13-stroke victory over runner-up Minnesota in the final 18 holes.
"We've been close a number of years. It feels great to go on top,"
head coach Mike Small said. "They succeeded. They played well for
the whole university. It was a whole team effort."
