ALTON, Ill. (AP) -- Police in Alton say charges are expected in the weekend slaying of a 23-year-old man they believe was gunned down while pressing a group to leave his rental home.
Police say they found Marcus Shannon lying face down in his kitchen early Saturday, after a quarrel involving Shannon and four visitors he was trying to chase off the property.
Investigators say Shannon was shot repeatedly and died later at a hospital.
The suspects sped away in a car when they later were arrested in nearby Wood River. Police say they expect charges as early as Monday.
Alton police Lt. David Hayes says the case appears to have been a trespassing dispute and did not involve drugs or gangs.
