Ill. state historic sites to open 7 days a week

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- State officials say several historic sites will be open seven days a week starting in the coming days.

An Illinois Historic Preservation Agency spokesman says the expanded days are to accommodate the busy summer tourist season.

The sites include the Bjorklund Hotel and Bishop Hill Museum in Bishop Hill, Cahokia Mounds in Collinsville and the Lincoln Lob Cabin.

The expanded hours were paid for by $1.6 million state legislation that also reopened historic sites that had been closed.
