(KMOV)-- MoDOT opened its new pedestrian bridge near the Taylor overpass. And with the good comes the bad. MoDOT is shutting down Highway 40 in that area to tear down the old pedestrian bridge.
Drivers will face a big road block Friday evening if they try to travel anywhere near I-64 and Kingshighway starting at 9:00 p.m.
MoDOT said the demolish of the pedestrian bridge could create some problems for Cardinal fans.
If you are traveling west on I-64/40 from downtown all lanes will be closed at Kingshighway.
Nor will drivers be able to go or enter the interstate from Kingshigway.
Dan Galvin with Gateway Construction told News 4 the detour should not cause any major delays.
The best way around the detour is to take I-70 and I-44.
Crews are expected to open that stretch of I-64 by noon on Saturday.
