Davis leads Illinois past Michigan 60-50

INDIANAPOLIS, IND.-The Illinois men's basketball team used a big second half run to overcome the Michigan Wolverines and advance to the next round of the Big Ten Tournament.

The Illini defeated Michigan 60-50 Friday in the Big Ten Tournament at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indiana.

Illinois trailed the Wolverines 24-20 with five minutes left in the first half. For the game's next 18 minutes, Michigan's offense was held to 10 points. Demetri McCamey sparked the Illini offense with a three. The team scored five straight points and led 25-24 at halftime. This was part of a 34-10 run that lasted until 6:45 in the game and the Illini led 54-34.

The Wolverines stormed back with 17 straight points to make the game 54-47. Illinois did not allow Michigan to get any closer and ended the game by outscoring the Wolverines 6-3.

Mike Davis led all scorers with 22 points and added 10 rebounds. Demetri McCamey scored 12 points with six rebounds, and Trent Meacham added 10.

Illinois will play the winner of No. 3 Purdue and No. 6 Penn State, the next game will be on Saturday at 4:05 p.m. EST.
