(KMOV) -- Several families from Franklin County who were forced to evacuate due to a gas leak have been allowed to return to their homes.
The gas leak also forced the closure of Highway-100 in Washington, Mo. which has been reopened to traffic.
The evacuations and highway shutdown were the result of a major gas leak on Tuesday afternoon.
It happened after a construction worker hit a propane pipeline.
Melissa Erker, spokesperson for Conoco Philips says that Franklin County residents who live in houses with propane gas should turn their gas back on and ignite their pilot lights.
Erker says that anyone with any questions or concerns should contact the Conoco Philips help-line at 1-800-766-6362.
