The No. 24 Minnesota Golden Gophers were the team that made a statement with a 59-36 win at "The Barn." It was Minnesota's (18-3, 6-3 Big Ten) first victory over Illinois in 10 years.
The Fighting Illini (17-4, 5-3) missed 21 first half shots and scored just 16 points. Illinois finished the game shooting 15-for 51. Dominique Keller led the team with nine points.
Illinois returns to Assembly Hall on Feb. 1 to face the Iowa Hawkeyes.
