Cars collide, three pedestrians hit in north St. Louis accident

(KMOV) -- Police were called to the scene of a serious car accident in north St. Louis.

It happened just after 10:00 p.m. on Sunday in the 3100 block of North Broadway near Branch Street.

According to police, the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro was going north on North Broadway at a high speed and hit a Pontiac Grand Am coming south on North Broadway. The Grand Am was trying to turn left onto Branch Street.

The Camaro went spinning onto the sidewalk and hit three pedestrians.

One of the pedestrians, a 20-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and was listed in critical and unstable condition.

The other two pedestrians, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man are in stable condition.

The driver of the Camaro, a 41-year-old man, was taken to the hospital to be treated for head injuries. He is listed in stable condition

The driver of the Grand Am, a 17-year-old girl, was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Two of the passengers in the Grand Am, fled the scene of the accident before police arrived.

No word yet on any charges.
