(KMOV) -- That was fun.
Everyone at Farout Field on Saturday enjoyed Mizzou's 58-0 rout over the visiting Colorado Buffalos.
The University pulled off another splendid homecoming, capped off by a Tigers victory in front of nearly 70,000 fans. But I couldn't help think what might have been.
Colorado looked terrible - really, really bad - but the Mizzou defense played tough all night. Chase Daniel got back to playing like, well, Chase Daniel.
Where were they against Texas and especially Okalahoma State?
""I think we have to prove something to ourselves that we can bounce back...Get everything going and get everything right. We don't have practice tomorrow, so it's good to celebrate," Daniel said after the game.
Sorry Chase, but I wouldn't be buying rounds at Harpos after this win over Hickman High, er, Colorado.
No one really expected Mizzou to take down the Texas Longhorns last week, but Daniel and the rest of the offense should have had no problem at home against Okalahoma State, who also lost to Texas yesterday.
Mizzou is not ready to be considered an upper-echelon football program.
And don't get me wrong, anyone who attends Mizzou right now is lucky to follow a team that gets some national attention for things other than 5 th downs.
Still, Mizzou let their shot at a National Championship, and immortality, slip away.
"I'm pleased we got back in the winner circle. It's a fun business as long as you win football games," Head Coach Gary Pinkel said.
True, Gary. But it's a lot more fun to win big games.
