Columbia (KMOV) -- I have probably said this many times over the past two years with regards to Tiger football, but this time it's for real. We are slightly 48 hours away from the biggest game of my college career and possibly the biggest game in Mizzou football history: #11 Missouri Tigers vs. #1 Texas Longhorns.
And thus it makes it even more special for three of my friends and me to make the 12-hour journey from Columbia to Austin.
We plan to hit the open road early Friday morning in an attempt to make Flower Mound, Texas by 7:30pm. On tap in Flower Mound is a road game for the alma mater of #10, Chase Daniel. The South Lake Carroll Dragons take on the Marcus High School Marauders in a Texas 5A high school football battle. They say Texas has the best high school football in the country, so it should be interesting to compare the atmosphere in Marauder stadium to the atmosphere in Darrell K. Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium.
Then it's on to the "Live Music Capital of the World," Austin, for some primetime football underneath the lights. Don't forget College Gameday though. Our road game against Oklahoma last year had Gameday as well, and we got there over two hours before taping. It was certainly worth the wait, but who knows how early we'll get out there this year. Hopefully Mizzou will have a boisterous contingent in the stands to counteract the 90,000+ screaming Longhorn fans.
You all know how crazy road trips can be. For all I know, we'll make a wrong turn in Oklahoma City, Okla. along I-40 and end up watching the game in Amarillo, Texas with four tickets burning a hole in our pockets. Here's to that not happening! Stay tuned.
