FORSYTH, Mo. (AP) -- A former official of a southwest Missouri sports camp has been sentenced to two life terms plus 30 years for molesting boys.
Peter Newman pleaded guilty in February to several counts of sexually abusing boys, sometimes during Bible study in a hot tub at his Branson home.
Newman worked as an assistant director at a Kanakuk Kamp near Branson. Southwest Missouri has several Kanakuk Kamps, which emphasize Christian principles in sports. The crimes to which pleaded guilty took place from 2006 to 2008.
Taney County Circuit Judge Mark Orr heard from sexual abuse experts and victims before pronouncing the sentence Wednesday.
