(KMOV) - St. Louis' main downtown library will close for up to two years starting Saturday night.
The library is closing for a $68 million renovation. Central library is 98 years old, and needs updates to the plumbing and lighting systems.
Crews will also add $30,000 square feet of public space, including an auditorium.
During the remodel, library patrons will still have access to every book and DVD the library currently holds. They will be in a storage building, and can be delivered to any of the 14 other library branches.
The library will reopen for a centennial celebration in 2012.
