(KMOV) -- A 4-year-old Haitian boy is recovering in St. Louis after undergoing life-changing surgery.
Woodler Decormier has potts disease, a condition caused by tuberculosis in the spinal cord. He was brought to St. Louis from Haiti after aid workers noticed him walking on his hands and knees.
Earlier this week, doctors performed a delicate, 11 hour surgery to correct a curve in Woodler's spine. Doctor's believe that without this surgery, he would not have lived long.
Once he is released from the hospital, Woodler will stay with his host family in Columbia this summer before returning to Haiti.
