(KMOV)— Crews in East St. Louis have started a $250,000 project to chop down trees.
The City Public Works Director says the trees need to be cut down to make room for sidewalk. The tree roots are causing parts of the old sidewalk to heave and become uneven.
Residents News 4 spoke to said they’d prefer the shade of a tree over an even sidewalk.
