Mayor may approve Metro tax increase as early as this week

(KMOV) – St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay’s office says that the mayor could approve a sales tax increase for public transportation as early as this week.

In 1997, voters approved a tax hike that would not take effect until St. Louis County also passed the increase.

In April, county voters approved the Metro tax hike.

The sales tax will go up a quarter percent in the city, and a half percent in the county.
