Cahokia workers told to go home after being rehired

(KMOV) – After being laid off and then rehired, four Cahokia employees were told to return home.

On Tuesday night the Village Board voted to override the mayor’s veto and rehire two police officers and two city works employees, but when they came into work Wednesday morning, the mayor told them to go home.
Cahokia Mayor Frank Bergman said he believes the board doesn’t have the authority to rehire the workers, but Trustee Kyle Johnson said public health is at risk without them.
