(KMOV) – Unkempt, knee-high grass at Lafayette Square Park has residents concerned about the area’s image.
The Parks Department says employees strive to cut the grass every 15 days, but because of the recent string of rain and storms, grass is mowed about every 30 days.
Budget cuts might mean this situation could get even worse as the summer comes. Park officials are looking to cut $700,000 out of the budget.
That might mean a more “natural” look for some parks, and potential job cuts for 14 full-time and 13 part-time employees.
