SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Two banks were robbed in rapid succession Thursday morning on the outskirts of Springfield, and police say the suspect is carrying a Wal-Mart bag full of cash.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that officers were responding to a robbery at People's Bank just before 10 a.m. when they were alerted to a second robbery at a nearby Commerce Bank.
The suspect was described as a white man wearing a white hat, do-rag, sunglasses and plaid shirt.
Investigators were looking for a white Chevrolet car the robber was driving when he fled back into the city.
